I conducted the information visualization literature review in Theory of Technical Communication class, which was taught by Dr. Karen Kuralt, in the spring semester of 2016.

This is a literature review about information visualization within the context of graphic design.

The audience for this piece was for technical communicators who wanted some introductory information about information visualization and its applications.

First, I chose the audience for this piece which were my professor and fellow classmates. Then, I found various articles in Google scholar and books in UALR's Ottenheimer library. I selected images and graphs that pertained to information visualization and graphic design from Google images.

The most difficult thing was the lack of up-to-date sources-I like using sources that are not over 10 years. Fortunately, I found enough adequate sources. 

Overall, I learned that the difference between information visualization and graphic design is interactivity-information visualization is very interactive and serves to not only be informative but engaging. Scholars in the information visualization field encourage technical communicators to go beyond aesthetics and present information in an engaging and ethical manner.
